Michael ChenSearch this phrase and roughly half of what comes back is about buying advertising, not about being paid. Sponsoring a post and getting sponsored are opposite sides of one transaction and they share a word, which is why the results are so mixed. This is the being-paid side.
It starts somewhere unusual: with what your own statistics cost to manufacture, because that is measurable here and it decides how you should build a pitch.
The screenshot you were going to send, priced
Creators put together a small pack of numbers when they approach a brand. Reach on a recent post, impressions, saves, profile visits, sometimes a tally of mentions. On this marketplace, on 1 September 2026, every one of those is a purchasable line item on the Instagram shelf.
| Number | Live listings that sell it | Distinct sellers |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions | 191 | 9 |
| Reach | 127 | 9 |
| Saves | 93 | 6 |
| Profile visits | 48 | 7 |
| Mentions | 45 | 4 |
| Engagement | 43 | 5 |
409 distinct listings name at least one of those six, out of 4,453 live Instagram growth listings. The seller column matters more than the listing column: a metric one seller has invented a product for is a curiosity, while a metric nine independent sellers stock is a commodity with a working supply chain behind it.
Two of the rows are worth reading closely, because they show how specific this gets. The engagement listings are packages sold by audience region, with titles naming a pair of countries. The mentions listings are sold against a list you supply, either your own followers or a file of handles. Neither is an abstract number generator. They are built to produce exactly the artefact a creator would screenshot.
What follows from that, and what does not
The wrong conclusion is that your numbers are worthless. They are not, and most creators are reporting them honestly.
The right conclusion is narrower and more useful: a figure that anyone can buy for a small sum cannot carry the weight of your case by itself. So build the case on things that sit outside the screenshot. A discount code only you distribute. A link with tracking the other side controls. A previous piece of work with a result attached that the other party watched happen. Those are not better because they are more impressive; they are better because they are measured on the other side of the transaction, where nothing you buy can reach.
This is also why it pays to lead with the offer rather than the audience. "Here is a thing I will make, here is where it will run, here is how you will know whether it worked" is a proposal. A statistics pack is a claim, and claims are cheap on this shelf.
Is there a follower count where this starts
Nothing published anywhere states one, and this is worth saying plainly because the number is the single most searched part of the subject. Instagram's own help pages cannot be read by a plain fetch: they return a full page with no article text in it, so nobody quoting a threshold from them has read one either. Every figure in circulation is somebody's rule of thumb wearing a source's clothes.
What is true and checkable is that the arrangement does not run through Instagram at all. A brand paying you for a post is a private agreement between two parties, so there is no platform eligibility gate to clear, no application to submit, and nothing that switches on at a particular number. The route in is a conversation, and conversations do not have minimums.
The pitch, kept short on purpose
Four things, in this order, and nothing else in the first message.
- Who you reach, in one line. Not a demographic table. The subject you cover and the kind of person who follows you for it.
- One specific idea for this brand. Named product, named format, and roughly what it would look like. Generic availability is not an idea.
- How it will be measured. Offer the code or the tracked link yourself. Volunteering the measurement is the part that separates a pitch from a request.
- One example of previous work. A link, not an attachment, and one, not a folder.
Follow up once. Two follow-ups on a first approach converts nothing and costs you the second approach later.
Disclosure, and why it is your problem rather than the brand's
Paid content has to be identifiable as paid content. Instagram carries a partnership label you can attach when you post, and you can find it on the composer screen before you publish rather than taking anyone's word for where it lives. Beyond the app, what you are legally required to say is set by the advertising regulator in your own market, not by the platform, and the rules differ enough between markets that no single sentence covers them.
Treat it as yours to get right regardless of what the brief says. A brand that forgot to ask you to disclose is not a defence, and the audience that noticed is the asset you were selling.
The part that decays if you ignore it
Everything above assumes the audience is real, and that is the one input a paid partnership cannot repair. An account padded with bought followers still has the padded followers after the deal, plus a partner who can see the result did not land.
If you inherited a following you did not build, or bought one earlier and want it gone, the removal guide covers the procedure and the ghost-follower guide covers which accounts are actually the problem. For the wider build, the influencer guide covers the account itself and the earning guide covers the routes other than sponsorship.
If you do test paid distribution around a campaign, keep it small and keep it separate from the numbers you report. The Instagram growth listings here come from several independent suppliers with their terms on each card, sites such as buyigfollowers.net are another place people compare, and the same reading applies wherever you buy: read what the listing commits to before you read what it costs.
