AdsPower Proxy Connection Failed: What to Check, and What to Buy Instead
Most AdsPower proxy failures come from the proxy you bought, not the browser. Match protocol, auth, concurrency, IP type, region, and remaining quota before you open another support ticket.
When AdsPower says the proxy check failed, or the profile opens but every page spins, the tool is usually fine. The mismatch is almost always between what you bought and how you use it. English searchers on this topic often ask which proxy to buy and what it costs. The checklist below answers that by tying each failure to a product choice.
1. Protocol and port
AdsPower asks for HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5. Sellers often give two ports for the same host, one per protocol. If the listing does not say which, try SOCKS5 first, then HTTP. If both fail with the same credentials, move on. You are not stuck in a protocol loop; the next layers matter more.
2. Auth format
Two common patterns, two different fields in AdsPower:
- User/password: host, port, username, password in four boxes. Colons or
@inside the username break paste-into-one-field workflows. Fill boxes separately. - IP whitelist: no password, but your current exit IP must sit on the seller's allowlist. Home works, office fails: usually this. Re-add the IP or switch to user/password if you change networks.
Pasting ip:port:user:pass into the host field fails on single-profile create. Use the bulk-import path when you have that line format.
3. Concurrency vs how many profiles you open
Shared plans often cap simultaneous sessions at two or three. Ten AdsPower windows on one shared endpoint: the first few pass the check, the rest fail. Close extras and retest. If one window works, you need either fewer concurrent profiles or a dedicated/private proxy line. When you buy, read the concurrent-connection number the way you read the price.
4. Datacenter IP vs what the target site accepts
Proxy check green, target site blocked or CAPTCHA-heavy: connection worked; the address type did not. Rough map:
- Datacenter (IPv4): cheapest and fastest. Fine when the site does not fingerprint IP class. Cheap "buy proxy" listings are usually this.
- Residential: home-ISP addresses. Use when the site rejects datacenter ranges. This is the upgrade English buyers mean when they search residential after AdsPower fails mid-session.
- Mobile: carrier NATs, hardest to pin to one user, highest unit cost.
Fingerprint browsers cover browser traits. Proxies cover the IP layer. A perfect AdsPower fingerprint on a datacenter IP still looks like a datacenter visitor.
5. Region mismatch
Some services compare account registration country with exit country. US account + SE Asia exit can pass the AdsPower proxy test and still trip login challenges. On our proxy catalog, about 17% of listings name a country instead of a mixed pool, at roughly 1.6× the mixed-pool median. Pay that premium only when the destination checks geo. Otherwise a mixed pool is enough.
6. Plan already empty
Expired-looking errors often mean the GB bucket hit zero while the calendar term still has days left.
- Traffic (GB): stops when the quota ends, even mid-month.
- Time (days): usually uncapped traffic until the day count ends.
Check remaining quota in the seller panel before you rewrite AdsPower settings. Seller pages that show live remaining GB beat ones that only print "monthly" in the title.
What to buy after the checklist
Order the decisions: protocol and auth (config), concurrency (shared vs dedicated), IP class (datacenter vs residential vs mobile), region (named country vs pool), billing unit (GB vs days). On the catalog side that maps to filters you can actually use: median listing around $2.02 across 106 products from 12 suppliers, with region tags and longer access windows both priced above the floor, and only about 3% of SKUs stuck with a sub-hour warranty window. Run a real request through the proxy once before you scale profiles.
